The Lindenwood men's basketball team (9-18, 4-10 OVC) dropped the first game of a three-game road trip on Saturday to Southern Indiana (14-13, 7-7 OVC) by a final of 74-64 in Evansville, Ind.
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood jumped out to a quick lead after
Brandon Trimble hit the first three-pointer of the night. At the 15:08 mark, Trimble knocked down another long-range shot to make it 13-8. Less than two minutes later, Trimble put the Lions up by 10 points as he collected his third three-pointer of the half.
The Screaming Eagles pulled within three points at the 3:40 mark, but the Lions continued to click on offense.Â
Kevin Caldwell Jr. dished out assists on back-to-back possession to build the lead back up to 31-24. The Lions held on to its lead through the half, and took a 35-29 advantage into the locker room.
Southern Indiana tied the game at the 17:38 mark, but Trimble was hot shooting the ball as he put the Lions ahead 40-37 with another three ball. The lead changed hands multiple times, but the Screaming Eagles held a 50-48 lead near the halfway point. After Southern Indiana took hold of a seven-point lead, the Lions chipped away to make it a two-point deficit with 2:56 remaining. The shots did not fall for the Lions down the stretch as Southern Indiana held on for the win.
Lindenwood collected 12 second-chance points, and 26 points in the paint. However, the Screaming Eagles generated 19 points on 14 Lindenwood turnovers. Trimble went 8-of-12 from the floor, including 5-of-8 from behind the arc to lead the Lions with 21 points.Â
Remy Lemovou registered four points with four blocks in his 13 minutes of action.Â
Keenon Cole tallied 14 points with nine boards, including four in the offensive zone.
