The Lindenwood women's hockey team (5-23-0, 5-9-0 CHA) will conclude its regular season this weekend in a two-game series against Mercyhurst (17-13-2, 9-3-2 CHA) from Erie, Pa. Game one is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. CT, while the series finale will begin at 1:00 p.m. CT.

The Lions are coming off a series sweep of RIT, defeating the Tigers by scores of 4-2 and 3-2, respectively. The second game was an overtime winner, which marks the second time Lindenwood has downed RIT in OT, beating the Tigers in that fashion 2-1 on November 19. With two more wins, the Lions secured all four victories against the Tigers this season.

Special teams played a big role in the success against RIT. After entering the series with only six scores on the powerplay, Lindenwood scored four times on the man advantage, while
Rachel Goff provided a shorthanded goal.

For their performances this past weekend,
Quinn McLaren and
Emma Hoen earned recognition from College Hockey America. McLaren, who was tabbed Defenseman of the Week, tallied three points on one goal and two assist in the series. The score was her first-career goal.

Hoen earned Rookie of the Week honors after scoring her first-career goal as well. The Maple Grove, Minn. native also added an assist in the series and was solid in the faceoff dot all weekend long, winning 59 percent of her draws.

Natalie Ferenc picked up both wins between the pipes, moving her total to four on the year. The West Bloomfield, Mich. native stopped 35 shots in game two, 17 of which came in the final frame.

The two wins helped the Lions clinch a CHA postseason berth, which will take place February 24-26.
