On Saturday, The Lindenwood men's wrestling team competed at the Missouri Valley College Open that was hosted at Missouri Valley College.
Overview
At the Open, there were 23 collegiate programs competing at the tournament. Over the course of the tournament, Lindenwood had five wrestlers place in their respective divisions. Of the five players that placed at the Missouri Valley College Open, the Lions had one wrestler place third, one wrestler place fourth, two wrestlers place fifth, and one wrestler place sixth.
Notable Performances
Cody Thurston – Placed third going five and one on the day in the 197-pound bracket. Thurston achieved victories by two major decisions, one pin, one technical fall, one sudden victory, and medical forfeit. The only loss on the day by Thurston was in the quarterfinal match versus Tommy Hagan (Unattached Missouri), losing by pin.
Ryan Golnick – Placed fourth, going four and two in the 197-pound bracket. Achieved wins by three pins and one technical fall.
Kaden Charboneau – Placed fifth, going five and two on the day in the 165-pound bracket. The Oklahoma native earned wins by three decisions, one pin, and one medical forfeit.
Austin Raynor – Placed fifth in the 184-pound bracket. Raynor earned a five and two record on the day, recording victories by three pins, one technical fall, and one medical forfeit.
Austin Kegley – Placed sixth in the 125-pound bracket. Kegley the Iowa native went two and three on the day. Kegley earned his two victories by decision.
