ST. CHARLES, MO. - The Lindenwood women's basketball team will host the SIUE Cougars tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. for Education Game Day in Hyland Arena.
The Lions will be looking to build off their first Division I victory that came the last time they took the court in Hyland. An 84-75 victory over the UT Martin Skyhawks sent the place into a frenzy, and will go down in Lindenwood Women's Basketball history as the first Division I win in program history.
Masyn McWilliams set both a new career high and a new team high with her 25-point performance, officially making her the Lion with the most points in a single game for the 2022-2023 season so far. The graduate transfer also added four rebounds, two assists and one steal to her stat line, coming off a stellar performance right before taking on her former team in tomorrow's game versus SIUE.
Alongside McWilliams,
Mary McGrath and
Devin Fuhring also dropped double figures against the Skyhawks. McGrath reached the double-double mark for the third time this season and second game in a row with her 16 points and 10 rebounds. The sophomore had arguably her most well-rounded stat line of the season so far with her two assists, four steals and three blocks as well, being a key piece in the Lions' success this game. Fuhring also contributed in multiple categories with her 16 point, eight assist game.
Other noteworthy performances came from Alana Striverson and
Emily Benzschawel, who dropped 10 points a piece for the Lions, making them key parts of Lindenwood's offensive dominance over UT Martin all game long.
McGrath still leads the way in both the points and rebounds per game columns for Lindenwood, averaging 12.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Fuhring has the next highest points per game average with 10.7, while
Brooke Woodyard is second best on the boards with her 4.2 rebounds per game average.
SIUE will also be looking to get back on track with a win as well after most recently falling to Little Rock in a 59-76 loss on Saturday.
Ajulu Thatha leads the Cougars with a 13.0 points per game average, while Sofie Lowis is right behind her with 11.7. Thatha is also the team's leading-rebounder with 5.7 boards per game.
