ST. CHARLES, Mo. --Sophomore Irelynn West collected three hits, but the Lindenwood Lions fell to the Saint Louis Billikens 15-3 Wednesday.
Senior Amanda Weyh (3-6) started and took the loss in the circle for Lindenwood (6-17).
In addition to her three hits, West had two doubles and a walk to lead the Lions. Sophomore Lauren Pelton put together a standout performance as well, going 1-for-3 with a walk and two RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions were trailing 5-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board. Lindenwood plated a run on a based-loaded walk by Pelton.
The Lions deficit grew to 15-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the seventh inning. Lindenwood brought home a pair, with one run driven in by Pelton's single, which brought the score to 15-3 in favor of the Billikens. The Lions were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
