The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (9-11, 6-6 MIVA) fell to Purdue Fort Wayne (16-10, 7-5 MIVA) by a 3-1 score on Saturday night from Fort Wayne, Ind.
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood trailed by as many as nine points in the opening set, but a strong .364 hit percentage as a team allowed the Lions to claw their way back into the first set, getting within three. Despite the effort, Purdue Fort Wayne grabbed the set 25-22.
Ian Schuller paced the Lions with four kills in the opening set.
RaShawn Bonner provided a pair of aces late.
The Lions were on the right side of that same score in the second set as they took it 25-22. To get there, Lindenwood won five out of the last seven points after the score was tied 20-20. The set was powered by 17 terminations as a team for the Lions, their most out of any set in the match. Eight of those kills came off the hand of
A.J. Lewis, seeing the senior put together a strong second.
After being tied early in the third set, the Mastodons went on a run to earn the third set victory by a score of 25-18. PFW kept the momentum going and took the fourth set, 25-17 as they jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back. The Mastodons would go in to win the match 3-1.
