ST. CHARLES, Mo. --The Lindenwood baseball (5-23, 2-4 OVC) lost the final game of the weekend series to Southern Indiana (8-20, 1-5 OVC) on Sunday at Lou Brock Sports Complex.
Sophomore Dawson Hokuf led the way offensively for the Lions, going 2-for-4 in the ballgame with a home run and two RBI. Junior Brett Bowers put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 1-for-4 with a double, two walks and an RBI. Sophomore Marcus Heusohn also contributed, going 2-for-4 for Lindenwood with two walks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions were trailing 3-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board.  Freshman Landon Willbrand came across to score the lone run of the inning for Lindenwood and get them on the board.
The Lions kept the Screaming Eagles off the board before narrowing the gap further in the third. Lindenwood picked up a run on Hokuf's leadoff home run off of junior Trent Robinson, which tightened the Screaming Eagles lead to 3-2.
Southern Indiana built their lead to 4-2 before the Lindenwood offense got going, reducing that lead to 4-3 in the fifth.
The Screaming Eagles expanded their lead to 6-3 before the Lindenwood offense got back to work, digging into that lead in the seventh. The Lions scored once on an RBI single off the bat of sophomore Preston Salazar, bringing the score to 6-4 in favor of Southern Indiana.
Southern Indiana built on their lead to 9-4 before the Lions offense got back in action, evening up the contest at nine in the eighth. The Lindenwood offense piled up five runs, highlighted by a one-run double off the bat of senior Sam Kissane. Southern Indiana then scored three times over the remaining one inning to break the tie and grab the 12-9 win.
