Darnell Walks it Off, Softball Wins Two on Saturday

GAME 1 | Lindenwood 5, Eastern Illinois 2

ST. CHARLES, Mo. --It was a tough day for Eastern Illinois pitchers, as the Lindenwood  Lions racked up five runs en route to a 5-2 victory over the Panthers on Saturday.

Senior Keighlan Cronin (4-8) started in the circle and picked up the win for Lindenwood (MO) (14-28, 6-12). The right-hander went 5.1 innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on four hits, allowing five walks and striking out three. Senior Amanda Weyh also made an impact in the circle for the Lions, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings while allowing one hit, with no walks and two strikeouts.

Junior Chloe Honchar led the way offensively for the Lions, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with an RBI. Freshman Dallis Darnell furnished a standout performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Sophomore Lauren Pelton also chipped in, going 1-for-3 for Lindenwood (MO) with a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lions were trailing 1-0 in the third inning when they first put runs on the board. Darnell's run-scoring single highlighted a two-run inning for Lindenwood (MO).

After the Panthers rallied to tie the ballgame at two, the Lions came back to retake the lead in the fourth inning. Lindenwood (MO) scored three times, picking up one on an RBI base knock off the bat of Honchar, which brought the score to 5-2 in favor of the Lions. The score remained 5-2 for the rest of the game, as Lindenwood (MO) held on for the win.

GAME 2 | Lindenwood  3, Eastern Illinois 2

ST. CHARLES, Mo. --The Lindenwood Lions rallied to score one in the seventh inning and walked it off on a single off the bat of freshman Dallis Darnell to pick up the 3-2 victory over the Eastern Illinois Panthers Saturday.

Senior Amanda Weyh (6-10) got the win for Lindenwood (15-28, 7-12). The right-hander went seven innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on five hits, allowing three walks and striking out six.

Freshman Tori Hatton led the way offensively for the Lions, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with two RBI. Junior Theresa Snaidauf provided a standout performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-4. Junior Emma Daniels also contributed, going 1-for-3 for Lindenwood  with a double.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lions were trailing 2-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board. Hatton drove in two runs for Lindenwood with a single, that scored Daniels and Snaidauf.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the seventh, when Lindenwood walked it off on an RBI single off the bat of Darnell.
