ST. CHARLES, Mo. --The Lindenwood baseball team (10-40, 6-14 OVC) dropped both games on Friday to Eastern Illinois (28-18, 9-11 OVC) by scores of 12-6 and 4-0, respectively at Lou Brock Sports Complex in St. Charles, Mo.
GAME 1 | Eastern Illinois 12, Lindenwood 6
In addition to his three hits, Joe Copeland had an RBI to lead the Lions. Junior Logan Stevens put together a standout day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a triple, a walk and an RBI. Senior Greg Sanders also helped out for Lindenwood, putting together two hits in five trips to the plate while adding an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions were trailing 4-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Lindenwood scratched across a run when Stevens tripled in freshman Landon Willbrand.
The Panthers expanded their lead to 8-1 before the Lions offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the seventh. Junior Anthony Stellato came across to score the lone run of the inning for Lindenwood, which tightened the Panthers lead to 8-2.
Lindenwood held the Panthers off the board before narrowing the gap to 8-4 in the eighth.
The Panthers expanded their lead to 12-4 before the Lindenwood offense got back in gear, biting into that lead in the ninth. The Lions scored twice, with one run coming across on Copeland's two-out single, bringing the score to 12-6 in favor of Eastern Illinois. The ballgame ended with that ninth inning rally falling short.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lindenwood managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. The Lions last got a runner on third in the eighth, when junior Tyson Ludwig made it 90 feet away from scoring with two outs.
