ST. CHARLES, Mo. --The Lindenwood baseball team (11-42, 6-16 OVC) lost 4-0 to SIUE (26-25, 9-13 OVC) on Thursday night at Lou Brock Sports Complex.
Sophomore Preston Salazar got the ball to start for Lindenwood and took the loss. The right-hander went 7.2 innings, giving up four runs, all of them earned, on five hits, allowing two walks and striking out four. Junior Jett Jackson was a bright spot for the Lions, coming out of the bullpen and throwing one scoreless inning, allowing no hits, with no walks and one strikeout.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lions went 0-for-1 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the second, when sophomore Dawson Hokuf made it into scoring position with two outs.
GAME NOTES
» Lindenwood pitchers faced 35 SIUE hitters in the game, allowing 14 ground balls and six fly balls while striking out six.
» The Lions drew four walks from SIUE pitching.
» Stellato led the Lions at the plate, going 0-for-2.
» SIUE was led offensively by senior Brady Bunten, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI.
» Bockenstedt led the Cougars pitching staff, throwing eight shutout innings.
