The Lindenwood women's soccer team (0-0-0, 0-0-0 OVC) will take on UMKC (0-0-0, 0-0-0 Summit) in their first game of the 2023 season on Thursday, August 17th, for a 7:00 p.m. start time in Kansas City, Mo.

The Lions are coming off their inaugural season in NCAA Division I, going 6-8-6 and 2-2-4 in conference making their way to the semifinals of the OVC Championships. The Lions enter the season with four of their five, top point scorers from a year ago. Rachel Jackson led the Lions in scoring with four goals and two assists in 2022. The sophomore is looking to capitalize on her first season success in 2023. Lily Sutter was second on the team in points, scoring one goal and contributing three assists.

Lindenwood and UMKC will meet for the first time in this well-anticipated matchup. UMKC went 2-11-5 last season, going 1-5-3 in the Summit League. The Roo's were picked as the ninth favorite in the preseason poll for the Summit League, returning 100% of their goal scoring and 85% of their minutes from 2022.

Lindenwood will host Chicago State on Thursday, August 24th for the home opener at 7:00 p.m. at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
