Logan Seibert of the Lindenwood football team has earned a spot on the 2023 Fred Mitchell Award Preseason Watch List. The annual Fred Mitchell Outstanding Place-Kicker Award (also known as the Fred Mitchell Award) is provided to the nation's top collegiate place-kicker among more than 750 FCS, Division II, III, NAIA and NJCAA football teams. The recipient of the award will be chosen based on excellence on the football field and in the community.
"It is with tremendous anticipation that our 35-person Selection Committee looks forward to the performances of non-FBS kickers this 2023 season--both on and off the field," said Fred Mitchell. "The kickers on our Watch List, as well as others who might emerge, will have the full attention of our committee."
The Award's Watch List is released in August, top performers are recognized monthly during the college football season, and the winner (who is not required to be on the Watch List) is announced in mid-December.
Last season, Seibert was named to the second-team all-OVC as a specialist. Seibert knocked through 11-of-14 field goals, tallying a long of 45 yards. Seibert was 44-of-47 on extra points, and put up 77 points
The school of the award winner receives scholarship funds and the Fred Mitchell Award trophy is presented each February at the National Football Foundation Chicago Metro Chapter Awards Ceremony at Halas Hall.
The 2023 home slate begins on Thursday, August 31 as the Lions host Wisconsin-Stevens Point for a 7:00 pm kickoff inside Hunter Stadium. All home Lindenwood football games will be aired on ESPN+
