The Lindenwood women's hockey team (0-0-0, 0-0-0 CHA) hosts Bemidji State (0-0-0,  0-0-0 WCHA) in a two-game series to start of the 2023-2024 season. Game one on Saturday is set for 7:00 p.m. CT, while game two will begin at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday. All games will be hosted at Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Mo.
 
The Black and Gold went 5-27-0 in the previous year. The Lions return five of their leading scorers from the 2022-23 season, which include Neitzke with 32 points, Rachel Goff with 19 points, Chloe Corbin with 13 points, Sarah Davies with nine points, and Molly Henderson with eight points. The Black and Gold return Graduate Student Natalie Ferenc in net. Ferenc played in 24 games last year, starting in 22 of them making 780 saves with a .898 save percentage.
 
The Lions are looking to pick up two wins in opening weekend of play, to have a record of 2-0 on the season. Head Coach Taylor Wasylk will coach her first series as a Lion. Wasylk comes from Suffolk an NCAA Division III school. At Suffolk, Wasylk amassed a 64-44-7 record which culminated in a Commonwealth Coast Conference championship and a NCAA Tournament appearance in 2022-23.
 
The Lions will meet with the Beavers for the sixteenth time in program history. In their most recent matchup the Beavers beat the Lions 6-3 on September 24th, 2022. Bemidji State went 5-30-1 in the 2022-23 season, picking up wins over Lindenwood, Minnesota State, Sacred Heart, and St. Thomas. Recently the Beavers were tabbed eighth in the WCHA conference.
 
The Beavers return three of their top five scorers from the previous year. Genevieve Hendrickson and Khloe Lund were tied for third on the team in points with 7. Taylor Nelson was tied for fourth on the team in points with 6. Abbie Thompson returns in net for the Beavers. Thompson played in eight games last season making 168 saves on 31 goals against.
