Lindenwood women's volleyball continues Ohio Valley Conference play as they host the SIUE Cougars on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 6:00 p.m. The Lions are in the middle of a four match home stand as they host UT Martin for two matches next weekend.
SIUE is coming off of three straight wins at the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational including a win against Valparaiso who defeated Lindenwood earlier this season at the Stacheville Classic.
Lindenwood defeated Western Illinois on Wednesday to open up OVC play. The Leathernecks defeated SIUE two weekends ago at SIUE's home tournament by a score of 3-2. SIUE went 6-5 during their non-conference schedule.
The Lions were picked to finish seventh this season in the OVC during the preseason voting. SIUEÂ was slated right behind the Lions at spot number eight.

Lindenwood women's volleyball earned a win in their first Ohio Valley Conference match of the season against OVC newcomer Western Illinois on Wednesday by a score of 3-0. It marked the first sweep of the season for the Lions.
The offense jumped out to a great start with 18 total kills in the first set. The Lions hit .333 in the first while limiting themselves to just four errors. FreshmanÂ
Jade Roth was dominant in the set with a team high six kills on nine attempts. LiberoÂ
Jessie Seidel posted nine digs and three assists in a 25-20 set one victory.
Lindenwood never trailed the rest of the match and only had one tie in each of the last two sets. LU took the second set by a final score of 25-19 and continued to post good offensive numbers while stepping up on defense.
After being held without a block in the first set, the Lions posted three total blocks in the second including two block assists from both Roth andÂ
Rebecca Janke.Â
Addy McAleer was the leading hitter in the set with four kills.Â
Abby VanBuskirk also provided two service aces.
Seidel also moved into the top three at Lindenwood in digs with her 13th dig in the second set. She now is just 111 digs away from becoming the all-time digs leader at the NCAA level in school history.
Wednesday's first conference match of the season came to a close in the third as the Lions took control with a 25-17 third set to take home their first OVC win of the season. The third set saw the Lions hit over .300 for the second time tonight and had 17 kills.
McAleer had her best set of the night in the third with seven kills to lead Lindenwood. She would end the match with 15 kills, two service aces and seven digs.Â
Allie Otten was effective on offense posting eight assists to end the match. Otten helped LU hit .261 for the entire match.
Janke finished the night with eight kills and three service aces, all coming in the first set. Otten posted a double-double with 21 assists and 12 digs while Seidel added 21 digs, her fourth straight match with at least 20.
OVC Top Ten
Three Lions make their way into the OVC Top Ten this week. SetterÂ
Allie Otten currently ranks seventh overall in total assists with 290. She also is eighth in the OVC in assists per set with an average of 6.44. Otten has helped the Lions rank fifth in the OVC in hitting percentage with a .189.
Rebecca Janke has a total of 41.0 blocks on the season which is fifth in the OVC. Her blocks per set sits at 0.91, the eighth best mark in the conference. The Lions average 1.81 blocks per set.
Seidel continues her great play as she now ranks fourth in total digs this season with 219. She also ranks fourth in digs per set with an average of 4.87. She is one of three liberos in the OVC to win Defensive Player of the Week (Christina Martinez Mundo and Tara Beilsmith),
Player To Watch
Freshman
Jade Roth was on the offensive attack in the Lion's win against Western Illinois. She picked up six kills in the first set alone on Wednesday. Roth has posted at least six kills in four of their last five matches.
On the season, Roth has 48 kills while hitting .240 on 125 attempts. Roth has a total of 17.0 blocks on the defensive end. She posted a season high 10 kills against Missouri State earlier this season.
