Women’s Soccer Falls 2-0 to SEMO

ST. CHARLES, MO. – On Thursday night, the Lindenwood women's soccer team faced off against Southeast Missouri State (SEMO). The Lions would fall to SEMO 2-0.

MATCH OVERVIEW
Five minutes into the first half the Redhawks would get on the board, leading 1-0. After the early score, both teams would remain quiet for the rest of the frame. The Redhawks, would lead 1-0 going into the second half. The Lions would have five shots in the first half while only giving up two. The Lions would also possess more corner kicks in the first forty-five minutes with three. Hannah Scholer would lead the Lions in shots in the first half with two.

In the second half, both teams would remain scoreless for twenty-seven minutes. In the 73rd minute of the match, the Redhawks would expand their lead to two. Strong defense by the Redhawks would keep the Lions off the scoreboard.

Erika Anstine started in net for the Lions making two saves on two goals against. At the end of the match, the Lions would lead in the shot category with twelve shots, while seven of them being on goal. After the match, the Lions would move to 2-8-1 on the season and 0-3-0 in OVC play.

QUOTABLE
"Tough result tonight for our group. We created quality chances, and their goalkeeper was very good tonight. On the other hand, I give credit to SEMO for scoring on the chances that were given to them. We will regroup and focus on the next game", said head coach Dave Musso.
