Football Visits No. 16 SEMO For MRV Banks Game Ball Brawl

The Lindenwood football team (1-0, 0-0 BS/OVC) will travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo. and take on #16 Southeast Missouri State (0-1, 0-0 BS/OVC) in the conference opener on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.

The Lions are coming off a dominant 77-9 win over Wisconsin Stevens-Point last week. Lindenwood showed a balanced offensive attack, putting up 696 yards of total offense, scoring five times apiece on the ground and through the air. The Lions scored 56 points in the opening half, the most in a single half in program history.

Two of those scores were from 60+ yards, as the passing game was explosive. Cole Dugger finished his night with 263 yards and four touchdowns to four different receivers. The Lions rank No. 1 among 128 FCS teams in the most passing yards per completion (26.7, 347 yards on 13 completions) and in fewest yards allowed per completion (5.4, 98 yards on 18 completions).

The other score came via special teams as Jeff Caldwell blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown. For his high-quality performance, which included a pair of blocked kicks and a receiving touchdown, the Louisville, Ky. native was named Big South-OVC Special Teams Player of the Week.

Lindenwood held the Pointers to just 78 yards and three first downs during the first half, with the defense doing their part as well.  Brenden Dye led the unit with six tackles.

The Lions and Redhawks will meet in Cape Girardeau, Mo. for the second installment of the "Game Ball Brawl". A year ago, SEMO won 49-28 inside Hunter Stadium.
