The Lindenwood men's ice hockey team fell 5-0 to the #3 Wisconsin Badgers in a tough road contest.
The Badgers' Quinn Finley broke the ice, scoring the first goal of the game at 11:42 in the opening period, on a pass from Joe Palodicuk. Up 1-0, Wisconsin's Cruz Lucius scored at 18:47 with Ben Dexheimer and Mathieu De St. Phalle being credited with the assist.
During the second period, the Badgers scored an additional two goals. Carson Bantle slipped through the Lions defense at 1:17 to score on a pass from De St. Phalle and David Silye. At 2:41, Finley scored his second goal and Wisconsin's fourth. Finley was assisted by Daniel Laatsch and Simon Tassy.
The final goal of the contest was once again scored by Finley with .2 remaining in regulation. He was assisted by Tyson Dyck.
Trent Burnham served Lindenwood in the net for all 60-minutes, recording 43 saves.
"Opportunities to play are being limited to close the second half of the season. Strong character excels in adversity," stated Head Coach Rick Zombo.
Lindenwood and Wisconsin will wrap up their series on Saturday, January 13th. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 pm at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
