ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Lindenwood men's basketball (7-11, 1-4 OVC) suffered a home Ohio Valley Conference loss against their foe from across the Mississippi river SIUE (11-8, 4-2 OVC) by a final score of 78-59. The Lions were held to just 35.7% shooting from the field on Thursday.
"Obviously it was a tough loss," said head coach
Kyle Gerdeman. "I don't think we played very well and I give SIUE a lot of credit. We knew what we were up against, and we did not play our best tonight but I will be interested to see how we bounce back for Saturday. We have been resilient and tough minded this season."
Jaylon McDaniel had his best offensive performance of the season after dropping a career-high 13 points on 6-11 shooting in 20 minutes. To start the game, McDaniel scored Lindenwood's first nine points.
Keenon Cole continued his streak of double-digit scoring this season after posting his 18th straight 10+ point performance with 14 points. Cole was held in check by the Cougars for most of the evening holding him to 4-10 shooting. He also led the team with nine rebounds.
Both teams battled on the glass with SIUE holding the slight advantage at 40-38. Offensive rebounding was in full effect for both teams with SIUE pulling down 13 and Lindenwood grabbing 11.
The Cougars' scoring mostly came from behind the arc hitting 15 threes on Thursday. Damarco Minor and Ray'Sean Taylor both hit four triples with Minor being the leading scorer for SIUE with 17. Lamar Wright also had 15 points and eight rebounds.
Lindenwood went 20-56 from the field hitting 35.7% of their shots, although they went 40.7% in the second half. The Lions' also were forced into 11 turnovers on the night compared to just six by SIUE.
Jeremiah Talton was a bright spot in the second half after hitting three triples . He was the only Lion to hit a three against SIUE while the rest of the team went 0-9 from deep. Talton also grabbed five rebounds.

Tommie Williams contributed nine and eight points each.
