The Lindenwood women's basketball team (3-14, 1-6 OVC) fell to Little Rock (6-12, 5-2 OVC) on Thursday by a score of 50-45.
GAME OVERVIEW
It was a slow start offensively for both teams as the score was 3-2 with 4:11 remaining in the first quarter. The defensive battle continued throughout the period as Lindenwood trailed 8-7 after one.
After Little Rock scored the opening bucket of the second quarter to take a 10-7 lead, the Lions went on a 7-0 run to take a 14-10 lead with
Justis Odom providing four points during the stretch. The Trojans battled back to tie the game at 14 late in the frame, but a pair of threes from
Ellie Brueggemann, coming on back-to-back possessions put the Lions ahead 20-16. Each team traded buckets to end the half with Lindenwood leading 22-19 at the break. The Lions forced 12 Little Rock turnovers in the half.
Little Rock opened the third quarter on a 7-2 run to grab a 26-24 lead with just over eight minutes to go in the third. The Lions settled down and were able to regain a 34-30 lead late in the frame after another Brueggemann three. Behind a 54 percent shooting effort in the third, the Lions led 37-32 heading to the fourth.
The Trojans started the fourth quarter on an 8-2 run to take a 40-39 lead. Both teams traded buckets on the next couple possessions as a pair of layups from
Makayla Wallace put the lions back in front 43-42. Lindenwood was unable to score for the next 2:20 which helped Little Rock earn the 50-45 victory.
