Women's Ice Hockey Set to Take on Penn State on the Road

Lindenwood will take on Penn State on the road, on Friday, January 26th and Saturday, January 27th. Games will played at 1:00 PM CST on Friday and 12:00 PM CST on Saturday at the Pegula Ice Arena in University Park, Pa..

Last Time Out
In their last series, the Lions swept RIT at home, winning 4-2 in the first matchup, and 3-2 in overtime in the second matchup. 

In the first game of the weekend, the Tigers were able to get up early, scoring two goals to lead 2-0 going into the second period. The Lions were able to bounce back in the second period, scoring two of their own, coming from Rachel Goff and Molly Henderson. After two periods, the game would be nodded up at 2-2. In the final period, the Lions would continue their strong offensive prowess, scoring a goal at 9:49 mark of the period to earn their first lead of the game. The goal would be scored by Olivia Grabianowski assisted by Emma Hoen and Henderson. Six minutes later, Sarah Davies would put a shot in the back of the net to secure the Lions victory. 

In the second matchup, the Lions would strike an early 2-0 lead after the first period. Goals scorers in the first period for the Lions included Henderson and Morgan Neitzke. In the second period, RIT would find the back of the net twice, holding the Lions scoreless. At the end of the period, the Lions would be tied 2-2 with the Tigers. In the third period, both teams were held scoreless, forcing overtime. In overtime, Davies would score the game-winner for the Lions.

After this matchup, the Lions moved to 10-13-1 on the season and 5-6-1 in conference play. After the win, the Lions would tie the program record for most wins in a season with ten. This would be the third time in program history the Lions would hit ten wins in a season, with the most recent ten-win season coming in the 2017-18 campaign.

The Lions are 10-13-1 on the season and are 5-6-1 in conference. The Lions are currently fourth in the CHA standings out of six teams, with eleven points, just one point away from third. Players to watch for the Lions include Molly Henderson, Natalie Ferenc, and Morgan Neitzke. Henderson and Ferenc were recently tabbed the CHA players of the week in their respective positions. Henderson contributed five points and Ferenc made 63 saves in a sweep over RIT. Neitzke leads the Lions in points with 33 points, coming from 21 goals and 12 assists. Neitzke also leads the CHA in goals and is second in the conference in points.
