Men's Volleyball Sweeps King in Home Opener

The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (2-4, 0-0 MIVA) picked up its second win and sweep of the season after defeating King (0-5), 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in St. Charles, Mo.

GAME OVERVIEW
The Lions jumped out to a quick 8-2 lead capped off by an Ian Schuller kill. Lindenwood maintained a comfortable advantage throughout the opening set, with the help of a .696 hit percentage as a team. Up 24-15, Clay Wieter capped off the first set with a termination as the Lions grabbed an early 1-0 advantage in the match.

Lindenwood never looked back from there, taking the second set as well. Although it was tight early, at 6-6, the Lions used a 6-2 run to pull ahead 12-8. The set continued with the black and gold in front. At 17-13, Wieter had back-to-back service aces to give the home squad a 19-13 lead. Lindenwood grabbed ahold of the second set, winning 25-21.

The serve continued to play a key factor in the third set, seeing the Lions have six more service aces. Lindenwood maintained an early lead, but King battled back to make the score 8-7 early in the stanza. The Lions were able to gain some separation, once again, with Wieters serve as he stepped up to the line and went on a mini run to make the score 18-14. Lindenwood closed the set and the match out at 25-19, picking up a 3-0 win.
