The Lindenwood women's basketball team (5-14, 3-6 OVC) looks to continue its two-game win streak against Western Illinois (13-6, 4-4 OVC) on Thursday night inside Hyland Arena. Opening tip is set for 5:00 p.m.
Â
The Lions are coming off a 67-53 victory over SEMO on Tuesday, a game in which Lindenwood never trailed.
Justis Odom paced the team with a career-high 17 points on 6-of-12 from the field. She was one of four Lindenwood players in double figures.
Â
Lindenwood outrebounded an opponent for just the fourth time this season, beating the Redhawks on the boards 35-28, and Odom was a big part of that. The transfer center pulled down seven rebounds, and currently leads the team, averaging 3.7 boards per game.
Ellie Brueggemann also chipped in on the glass with a career-high nine rebounds. The Owasso, Okla. native also added 13 points. Brueggemann knocked down three shots from distance against the Redhawks and has now made a three pointer in 14 consecutive games.
Â
Makayla Wallace and
Mykayla Cunningham were the two other Lindenwood players to reach the double-digit mark. Wallace finished the contest with 16 points, including a perfect 7-of-7 from the field, while adding six steals. The St. Louis, Mo. native is the first Lindenwood player to record six or more steals in a game since
Devin Fuhring had six on February 2nd, 2021, against Illinois Springfield.
Â
Wallace's active hands were a big reason why SEMO had 22 turnovers on Tuesday night, 14 of which came in the first half. On the season, the Lions have a +3.63-turnover margin, tops in the Ohio Valley conference.
Â
With the win against SEMO, Lindenwood moved to 4-4 inside Hyland Arena as the squad will look to keep protecting home court. Next week, the Lions will host Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech in St. Charles, Mo.
