Men’s Ice Hockey Defeats UNLV in Second Exhibition

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. – On Sunday, men's ice hockey faced UNLV in an exhibition, for the second time this weekend. The Lions would defeat the Skatin' Rebels 6-3.


GAME OVERVIEW
In the first period, things would start out slow on the offensive end by both sides. Lindenwood would break the 0-0 tie at the 12:50 mark, coming from a Jaeden Mercier score, during a power-play effort. John Evans would double the Lions lead 14:16 into the period. The Lions strong defensive play would the Skatin' Rebels scoreless in the frame. After a period of play, Lindenwood led 2-0 over UNLV. The Lions outshot UNLV 28-9 in the first.
 
In the second period, the Skatin' Rebels found their bearings on offense, scoring three consecutive goals in the period, with their final goal of the period coming at 18:19. This would be the first time during the weekend, that UNLV would hold a lead. UNLV's lead would be short-lived, with Jake Southgate tying the game up at 3-3, with 37 seconds left to go in the period. After two periods of play, Lindenwood would be tied with UNLV at 3-3.
 
In the third period, the Lions would dominate the offensive zone, scoring three unanswered before the end of the game. Goals scorers for the Lions in the third period included, Evans for the second time on the night, David Gagnon, and Ethan Zielke.
