The Lindenwood football team (2-4, 1-1 BS/OVC) looks to bounce back this weekend, taking on Charleston Southern (1-4, 0-2 BS/OVC) this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. inside Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
Â
Last week, the Lions suffered a tough loss to Tennessee State, 24-20, being outscored 17-0 in the second half. Lindenwood jumped out to a quick two score lead less than four minutes into the game as
Nate Glantz and
Jeff Caldwell connected for another touchdown strike from 34-yards out. For Caldwell, his last five catches up to that point went for scores. The junior wideout has eight touchdowns on the year.
Â
The defense accounted for the other touchdown on the day when
Jonah Rubadue deflected pass that fell into the arms of
Frank Caldwell who returned it to the house for six. It was the first defensive score for the Black & Gold since 2022 when
Darion Bolden had a 99-yard interception return.
Â
Logan Seibert notched two more field goals against the Tigers, giving him eight on the year, which is second most in the conference. The Belleville, Ill. native is five field goals away from breaking the career record in program history that was set by Halley Ferrell who played for the Lions from 2006-2008.
Â
Lindenwood continues to run the ball well on the ground after compiling 181 yards last week. The Lions lead the Big South-OVC with 906 rushing yards on the year and average 151 per game, which ranks third in the Association. Both
Cortezz Jones and
Steve Hall rank inside the top 10 among league running backs in rushing yards with 366 and 293, respectively.
Â
This will be the second meeting between the two squads in the series history as Charleston Southern picked up a 24-10 last season. Caldwell hauled in a touchdown pass in that game. The Buccaneers are led by running back Autavius Ison who broke the single-game program rushing record last week.
