MOREHEAD, Ky. - Lindenwood women's volleyball (16-9, 10-3 OVC) drops their second match in a row against Morehead State (11-12, 7-5 OVC) by a final score of 3-0. It marks the first time since Sept. 6th and 7th that the Lions have lost two in a row. LU drops to second in the OVC after the weekend.
Lindenwood's offense was more competitive on Friday after posting their lowest hitting percentage of the season in match one. The Lions hit .275 on Friday morning with 52 kills. Lindenwood had three players in double-digit kills including
Nyah Wilson who had a team-high 16 kills while hitting .317.
Autumn Bax also added another 13 kills while hitting a team-high .343 on 35 swings.
Addy McAleer also dropped 12 kills, her first double-digit kills match since Sept. 14th.
Allie Otten posted her 17th double-double of the season with 36 assists and 12 digs. Otten has posted at least 30 assists in all but five matches this season. She has 893 assists on the year (most in her career) and now moves into second all-time at Lindenwood in career assists with 3,090.
Lindenwood's serve and receive helped give points to the Morehead State team as LU had 10 service errors while the Eagles posted seven service aces.
Dana Grib posted her ninth match of the season with double-digit digs with 15 on Friday. Grib led the way as Lindenwood posted 57 digs with six players recording at least six digs. McAleer also added eight while Wilson and
Ashley Geluck added two blocks each.
Set one showcased both Lindenwood and Morehead State's offenses as there was 11 ties in the set. Morehead State was trailing early 13-8, but battled back to force extra points in the first set eventually winning 29-17. Wilson led the way in the first set registering eight kills and two aces.
Lindenwood controlled the majority of the first set even going up 20-12. The Lions had a chance to close it out on four straight set points, but the Eagles clawed their way back from a 20-24 deficit to tie the set. MSU would go on to win 27-25. Bax had her best set adding five kills and four digs.
It was another close set in the third with five ties and two lead changes, but the Eagles closed Friday's match winning 27-25 earning their second sweep over Lindenwood. LU had 19 kills in the third while hitting .294. McAleer added six kills while Bax and Wilson each had five.
