The Lindenwood women's basketball team continues their three-game home stretch on Friday morning as they take on the Hornets of Harris-Stowe at 11:00 a.m. CT inside Hyland Arena. The Lions started off their home stretch with a big win on Tuesday against Bradley.

Ellie Brueggemann and Brooke Coffey both had a great start to the week with Brueggemann scoring a team-high 15 points against the Braves of Bradley while local talent Brooke Coffey had her first career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Both also scored in double figures at Kansas to start the season.

Lindenwood is coming off a 7-21 season in 2023-24 under second-year head coach Amy Eagan. Lindenwood went 5-13 during conference play which was good for 10th in the OVC. Eagan returns a core group from last season as they return nine players including Second-Team All-OVC selection Brueggemann.

The month of November will see the Lions be inside Hyland Arena three times including their annual Education Day game on Friday against Harris-Stowe on Friday. Lindenwood will also take on Evansville at home before going on the road for two more in Nov. (Kansas City and Oral Roberts).

Player to Watch
Mykayla Cunningham has been all over the place to start the 2024-25 season. She currently is third on the team in scoring averaging 7.5 points per game while shooting 41.7% from the field. Her five made field-goals so far are also third most by a Lion.

Noy only can she get to the basket, Cunningham currently leads the team in steals with four after picking up two at Kansas and vs. Bradley. Cunningham also averages 2.5 rebounds per game and 1.5 assists. She has started both games for the Lions thus far and has played over 56 minutes.

OVC Preseason Rankings
The Ohio Valley Conference released their 2024-25 women's basketball preseason predicted order of finish earlier this off-season. Lindenwood was selected to finish seventh after going 7-21 a season ago and 5-13 in conference. 

Lindenwood received 81 points in the preseason poll which put them in seventh heading into the season. This marks the highest ranking for a Lindenwood women's basketball team in their three seasons in the league.

The defending OVC Champions Southern Indiana Screaming Eagle were selected to win the OVC after receiving 20 of the 22 first-place votes for a total of 200 points. UT Martin finished in second (180 points, 2 first-place votes) followed by Eastern Illinois (145) and Tennessee Tech (140). Little Rock rounds out the top five followed by Western Illinois, Lindenwood, SIUE, Morehead State, Tennessee State and SEMO.

The Ohio Valley Conference also selected two 'Players To Watch" from each OVC school to start the upcoming season. Brueggemann and newcomer Coffey were tabbed as Lindenwood's players to watch for the 2024-25 season.

Bradley Recap
Women's basketball earned their first win of the season on Tuesday during their home opener against Bradley by a final score of 64-56. The Lions scored 19 fourth quarter points to secure the win against the Braves. LU tied the all-time series at 1-1 win the victory.

Three Lions scored in double-figures on Tuesday night including 15 from Lindenwood's leading scorer Brueggemann.  After shooting 1-14 at Kansas from deep, Brueggemann responded by going 3-4 from downtown including making her first three attempts. She also added two rebounds and three assists.

Coffey returned home to St. Charles, Mo. and picked up her first career double-double after dropping 11 points and 12 rebounds. Coffey shot 3-4 from the floor in 31 minutes played while grabbing 12 defensive rebounds. She also had her hands all over the place on defense picking up a team-high three steals.

Justis Odom also finished with 10 points while grabbing five boards. Cunningham chipped in eight points, three assists and two steals while Mya Skoff of the bench went a perfect 3-3 from the field ending the game with seven points.

As a team, Lindenwood shot 23-48 (47.9%) from the field and 4-12 from three-point distance. Lindenwood edged the Braves on the glass grabbing 31 rebounds compared to 30 by BU. The Lions scored 20 points off of Bradley's 17 turnovers and also scored 10 fast-break points. Thirty-two of the Lions' 64 points were in the paint including six from center Mariah Stewart who shot 3-4 from the field.

Head Coach: Amy Eagan
Eagan was named head coach of the Lindenwood women's basketball program on March 28, 2023.

In year one under Eagan, the Lions posted a 7-21 record. Lindenwood found itself in many close games, dropping eight contests by seven points or less. The black and gold led the OVC in turnover margin at +3.68. Ellie Brueggemann had an outstanding freshman campaign, averaging 13.8 points per game, which led to second team and all newcomer selections. Makayla Wallace set a new single season program record for steals with 72. She averaged 2.6 steals per game last season, tied for tops in the conference. It also ranked 24th nationally. 
 
Eagan arrives in St. Charles, Mo. after spending three seasons as the head coach of Drury University women's basketball.  Eagan completed her 14th season as a collegiate head coach, as she had stops at Truman State, Ashford, and St. Ambrose.
 
Eagan brings a career mark of 274-151 (.645) to Lindenwood, including four-straight seasons of 23 or more wins.  Eagan has led three schools to the NCAA Division II tournament for a total of five appearances, as well as one NAIA tournament appearance.  Eagan had claimed five conference titles in her 14 years, including three-straight.
