Men's Ice Hockey Falls Short Against Alaska Anchorage

In the first period, the Lions and Seawolves were evenly matched. The only goal allowed during the frame came at 12:01 by Alaska Anchorage. In the first, Trent Burnham demonstrated his athleticism and agility, recording 22 saves.

After a one goal period, the second was filled with action. The second started with Alaska Anchorage scoring their second goal at 3:52. Drew Kuzma responded for the Lions at 14:40 on a pass from Adam Conquest. Three minutes later (17:40) the Seawolves were able to score again to take a 2-1 advantage into the final twenty minutes. After two periods, Lindenwood's Burnham recorded 33 saves, while serving between the pipes.

In the final period, there were four goals scored: two for each team. AAU scored first at 5:25 and last at 19:00, with the final goal coming on an empty net. LU scored twice in under one minute. Caige Sterzer scored, unassisted at 14:06 and Ethan Zielke scored with Sterzer and Zach Aughe recording the assist. Burnham tallied 10 saves in the third for a total of 43 for the contest.

Head Coach Rick Zombo stated, "We made far too many mistakes to expect better results."

Game two serves as the Lions final game of 2024 and will start at 6:00 pm on February 17, 2024.
