Women's Ice Hockey Falls 6-3 on Senior Day

MARYLAND HEIGHTS, MO. --On Saturday, the Lindenwood women's ice hockey team took on Robert Morris in their final regular season matchup, as well as Senior Day. The Lions would drop their matchup with the Colonials 6-3, moving to 11-19-2 on the season.

GAME OVERVIEW
1:38 in to the first period, the Colonials would find the back of the net for the first time in the matchup. The Colonials would continue their offensive surge, scoring three more goals before the end of the period. The Lions would be held scoreless in the period, trailing 4-0 going into the intermission. In the period the Lions had 19 shots on net while the Colonials had 11.

In the second period, the Colonials would score early, to extend their lead to five. For the majority of the period, tough defense would keep both teams off the board. 14:48 into the period, Kaitlin Finnegan would the net the Lions first goal of the game, assisted by Quinn McLaren and Thea Jørgensen. Going into the final period, the Lions would trail 5-1. In the period, the Lions had seven shots on net while the Colonials had 11.

In the third period, Morgan Neitzke would cut the Colonials lead to three, with 19:35 left in the period. Neitzke's goal would be assisted by Chloe Corbin. Twelve minutes later, Rachel Goff would score the Lions third goal of the night, cutting the Colonials lead to two with 6:12 left to go. With 3:03 left in the period, the Colonials would score the final goal of the game on an empty net to regain their three-goal lead.

Natalie Ferenc started in net for the Lions making 24 saves. In this matchup, Neitzke broke the program record for career short-handed goals with five and most goals in a season with 24.
