The Lindenwood baseball team fell 10-2 to the Saint Louis University Billikens in their 2024 home season opener.
Head Coach PJ Finigan stated, "SLU is a good ball club and made us pay for our mistakes. We did not capitalize on our opportunities early in the game and their bullpen out pitched ours."
SLU was able to score once in the top of the first inning. LU scored their two runs in the bottom of the second. A single by Mitch Cummins led to Filip Sarota scoring. Colin Shea landed a single to right center to score Cummins.
The Billikens were able to score one in the third, three in the seventh, two in the seventh, one in the eighth and two in the ninth.
The Lions finished with two runs on 11 hits and two errors. Aaron Jungers took the loss on the mound for Lindenwood.
LU will be back in action this weekend, February 23-25, at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
