It took 11 innings for a victor to emerge in the final game of the Lindenwood and Arkansas State three game series, with the Red Wolves taking the win 6-5.
The Lions jumped into the lead in the top of the first, scoring one run.
Mitch Cummins was hit by a pitch, with the bases loaded to score
James Jett. Arkansas State responded with two runs in the bottom of the innings. Lindenwood scored another run in the top of the third, to knot the game at two. Cummins singled to right fight to push
Dawson Hokuf to second and an error by the right fielder allowed him to advance home.
In the top of the seventh and eighth, LU scored one run to take a 4-2 lead.
Chase Honeycutt singled to center field to get on base. A sacrifice bunt allowed Honeycutt to advance to second base and a fly to right field pushed him to third, before scoring on a wild pitch. In the eighth, Hokuf doubled down the right field line and advanced to third on a balk. A sacrifice fly by Cummins provided the opportunity for Hokuf to score. The Red Wolves were able to extend the game by scoring two runs in the bottom of the inning. Neither team scored in the ninth, so the game headed into extra innings.
The Lions scored one run in the top of the 11
th, but Arkansas State was able to score two to win the game.
Tyson Ludwig singled, stole second and third, before scoring on a throwing error by the catcher.
