The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (5-9, 2-5 MIVA) dropped a midweek matchup with McKendree (8-6, 5-3 MIVA), 3-0 on Wednesday night in Lebanon, Ill.
MATCH OVERVIEW
The two teams went back-and-forth to begin the match as the score sat 9-8 in favor of McKendree early. The Bearcats gained some separation with a 7-2 run to go up 16-10, which forced a Lindenwood timeout. The Lions were unable to draw much closer and dropped the first set 25-18.
In the second set, the Bearcats won the race to 10 and led 10-7 early. Each team traded points until 14-10 as Lindenwood went on a 3-0 run aided by a pair of
Ian Schuller kills to cut the deficit to one. McKendree responded with the next four points to restore a comfortable lead, forcing a Lindenwood timeout. McKendree was able to close out the set at 25-20 and grab a 2-0 lead in the match.
McKendree took an early 12-8 lead in the third set, but the Lions were able to close the gap a bit at 14-13. However, the Bearcats won the next four points to extend the lead. The home squad remained in control of the match and picked up the 3-0 victory after a 25-18 third set win.
