The Lindenwood women's basketball team (5-15, 3-7 OVC) is set for a matchup with Tennessee State (7-13, 4-6 OVC) on Thursday night in Hyland Arena. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
Â
The Lions are coming off a 75-68 loss last Thursday at home to Western Illinois, a contest that saw a total of 10 lead changes. Lindenwood has been in a lot of close games this season, dropping five by seven points or less including an 83-80 loss to Tennessee State on January 13.
Â
Ellie Brueggemann paced the team with 14 points, scoring in double figures for the 17th time this season. The Owasso, Okla. native knocked down two shots from beyond the arc and has now drilled a three pointer in 14 consecutive games.
Â
Justis Odom was the other Lindenwood player in double figures after scoring 13 points and grabbing six rebounds. Over the past two games, the transfer center has averages 15 points, 6,5 rebounds, and one block per contest, all while shooting 60 percent (12-of-20) from the field.
Â
Odom's work on the glass was a big reason why Lindenwood outrebounded the Leathernecks, 39-32. The Lions have won the battle on the glass in their last two games. Overall, the Lions have outrebounded teams five times this season and are 3-2 in such contests.
Â
In the game against Western Illinois, Lindenwood had a season-low seven turnovers. So far this season, the Lions average 14.5 turnovers per game, while carrying a +3.75-turnover margin, both rank inside the top two in the Ohio Valley Conference.
Â
The Lions will be looking to even the season series against the Tigers. During that contest, the black and gold had four players in double digits, led by Brueggemann who finished with 18 points.
