Men's Volleyball Bested by No.13 Ball State on Saturday

The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (8-11, 3-7 MIVA) fell to No. 13 Ball State (16-7, 9-1 MIVA) 3-0 on Saturday night from Muncie, Ind.

MATCH OVERVIEW
Lindenwood trailed 9-8 early in the first set, but went on a 3-0 run with the help of a pair of kills by A.J. Lewis to go up 11-9. The back-and-forth battle continued throughout the stanza, however Ball State earned three-straight points after trailing 22-21 to take a late advantage in the set. The Cardinals were able to close out the set at 25-23.

The Lions fell behind to begin the second set, but used a 5-1 run, capped off by an ace from Connor Sheehan to go ahead 9-8. Ball State battled back and took a 19-16 lead late in the second set after a big block and forced a Lindenwood timeout. The home squad was able to finish off the second at 25-19 and go up 2-0 in the match.

In the third set, Lindenwood won the race to 10 and led 10-7 in the early going. The black and gold continued to lead throughout the third frame, but Ball State clawed back to tie the set at 21 apiece, which forced a Lindenwood timeout. The Cardinals were able to grab ahold of the final set and win it 25-23.
