The Lions baseball team took a mid-week trip into Illinois, to face Eastern Illinois in a non-conference game. LU fell 20-9.

The opening inning and the fifth were the only two innings that were scoreless for both teams. In the second Eastern Illinois scored three runs, four in the third and seven in the fourth. They also scored five in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Lindenwood scored two in the seventh and eighth and five in the ninth. The Lions finished with nine runs on nine hits and no errors.

Michael Walsh took the loss for the Lions. Anthony Stellato recorded a grand slam homerun in the top of the ninth with two outs. He finished with two runs, four hits and five RBIs. Drake Roberts was also a highlight for Lindenwood, as he tallied three runs, one hit and one RBI. Ambrose Russo, Alessandro Volpe and Mitch Cummins each scored for the Lions, Russo scoring twice.

The Lions will travel to Edwardsville, Illinois, to open Ohio Valley Conference play at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, this weekend. Game one is scheduled for Friday at 4:00 pm.
