The Lindenwood women's basketball team (7-21, 5-13 OVC) concluded its season on Saturday afternoon with a loss to Morehead State (15-14 10-8 OVC) by a score of 72-59.
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood trailed 11-8 at the first media timeout but got off to a hot shooting start from deep with a pair of makes from
Ellie Brueggemann and
Makayla Wallace. Morehead State extended its lead a bit throughout the first quarter and led 20-14 after one.
It was a slow shooting start for both teams in the second quarter, as Morehead State led 25-18 with just under five minutes remaining in the half. From that point the Eagles went on a 12-5 run to go up by double digits. The home squad would take a 39-26 advantage into the locker room. In the first half, Lindenwood shot 40 percent from deep, including a pair of makes from
Ellie Brueggemann who led the team with eight points at half.
Morehead took a 15-point lead early in the third quarter, but Lindenwood fought back with an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to 43-36, which forced an Eagles timeout with just under seven minutes remaining in the period. Morehead State responded well out of the timeout and used a 10 run to regain a comfortable advantage at 55-38. The Eagles would lead 57-45 heading to the fourth.
The Lions were unable to draw much closer in the fourth quarter as the Eagles cruised to a 72-59 victory.
Mya Skoff led the Lions with 15 points, one shy of her season high.
