CONWAY, S.C. – On Saturday, women's lacrosse took on Coastal Carolina. In a highly anticipated matchup, the Lions fell 15-13 to the Chanticleers.
GAME OVERVIEW
Starting off the game, the Chanticleers would find the back of the net first at 10:39. At 9:59, Lindenwood would get on the board coming from a
Kiley Davis goal, assisted by
Emily Mowbray. Quickly, the Chanticleers would rebound, scoring at 9:27. Lindenwood would score the next two goals coming from Davis and
Isabella Rulapaugh, at 8:56 and 7:52. The Lions and Chanticleers would trade-off the next two goals with 1:32 left to go. The Chanticleers would get the final answer in the period, with the Lions tied 4-4 with the Chanticleers after one quarter of play.
In the second, Lindenwood would find the first two goals of the frame, coming from
Alissa Digiacinto and Davis. Coastal Carolina would score the next three goals, to regain the one goal lead. Lindenwood would strike back with a pair, leading 8-7 with 5:52 left in the half. Coastal Carolina would score with 13 seconds left in the period. After two quarters of play, the Lions would be tied 10-10 with the Chanticleers.
In the third quarter, the Chanticleers would tally the first two goals at 13:34 and 5:09. Lindenwood would be held to one goal in the quarter, coming from Davis at 4:27. After three, Lindenwood would trail the Chanticleers, 12-11.
In the fourth quarter, Coastal Carolina would tally at 13:01, extending their lead to two. Lindenwood would score a pair to tie the game up at 13-13. Coastal Carolina would tally the final two goals of the game.
After this matchup, Lindenwood falls to 9-2 on the season.
Kiley Davis led the Lions in points on the day with seven, coming from seven goals.
