Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men's Volleyball Sweeps Quincy on Tuesday

The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (7-9, 3-5 MIVA) picked up a 3-0 sweep of Quincy (5-9) on Tuesday night from Hyland Arena

MATCH OVERVIEW
Lindenwood blitzed the Hawks early, going up 10-4 and never looking back. The Lions went up by as many as 12 in the set, at 20-8 and the first frame was capped off by an A.J. Lewis kill. The opening stanza was Lindenwood's best hitting set of the night at .435, which saw the Lions take a 1-0 lead in the match after a 25-15 first set win.

Quincy made some adjustments to begin the second and jumped out to an 8-4 lead. The Hawks were able to maintain a slim lead throughout the set, until a Clay Wieter kill tied things up at 18 apiece. This sparked a 3-0 run for the Lions as they gained some separation. The two teams went on to trade points, but RaShawn Bonner finished off the set at 25-22 which gave Lindenwood a 2-0 lead in the match.

The Lions took a quick 5-1 lead in the third set, but Quincy went on to win six of the next seven points to take a 7-6 lead. An ace from Lewis sparked a 4-0 run that allowed Lindenwood to jump back in front at 12-9. The Hawks wouldn't go away, however and were able to tie the game 13-13. Lindenwood settled back down and went in front 20-16, which forced a Quincy timeout. Lindenwood was able to see the set out and win 25-17, picking up the 3-0 sweep.

QUOTABLE
"It was a good conference win tonight at home, but we need to keep building especially as we go through this back half of conference play," said head coach Joe Kosciw. "Tonight we were able to see a couple of areas that we need improvement in and Quincy did a good job of taking advantage of that. We will get back to work as we need to use this week and early next week to sharpen our skill set. Nonetheless, a conference win at home is always nice and we will continue to press forward."

UP NEXT
The Lions will head to Lebanon, Ill. for a neutral site match with Erskine on Thursday. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m.
