The Lindenwood men's volleyball team (15-11, 9-7 MIVA) swept Purdue Fort Wayne (14-12, 8-8 MIVA), 3-0 on Saturday night from Hyland Arena.
MATCH OVERVIEW
Purdue Fort Wayne jumped out to an early 13-10 lead in the opening set, but Lindenwood responded with a 3-0 run, capped off by a block from
Clay Wieter and
Ian Schuller to knot things up at 13 apiece. The two teams would continue to trade points throughout the first set as the score was tied 20-20 down the stretch. Lindenwood would win five of the next seven points finished off by a Schuller kill to take the first set 25-22.
In the second set, the score sat at 7-6 early, but with
Connor Sheehan back to serve, the Lions went on an 8-0 run to gain some separation at 15-6. During the spurt, Schuller and
RaShawn Bonner had a pair of kills. Lindenwood carried the momentum throughout the end of the set, hitting .700 and winning the frame 25-15.
Lindenwood took a quick 10-6 lead in the third and held a four-point advantage at the media timeout. Coming out of the break, Lindenwood won the next two points as
Clay Wieter's kill put Lindenwood up 17-11 forcing a timeout from the Mastodons. The Lions closed out the third set 25-17, and won the match 3-0.
