Women’s Lacrosse Pulls Out 17-14 Victory Over Butler

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. – On Saturday, women's lacrosse took on Butler University in a non-conference contest. In a tightly contested battle, Lindenwood would pull out the victory, winning 17-14 over the Bulldogs.

GAME OVERVIEW
Starting off the game, Lindenwood would find the back of the net first at 14:01. Butler would strike back scoring three straight, to take the 3-1 lead with 8:42 left in the quarter. Lindenwood would not shy away, scoring three straight to end the quarter, leading 4-3. Goal scorers in the first quarter included Alissa Digiacinto (2), Sara Grieco, and Kiley Davis.

In the second quarter, Lindenwood would start the frame going on a 2-0 run, with goals coming from Digiacinto and Reese Krieger. Butler would strike back with a run of their own, scoring four straight to take the 7-6 lead. Logann Eldredge would find her first goal of the game at 1:08, tying the game up at 7-7. Butler would retake the one goal lead with 54 seconds to go in the half. With nine seconds left in the half, Eldredge would notch her second goal of the game, tying the game at 8-8, going into halftime.

In the third quarter, Grieco would find the back of the net for the Lions at 13:08 to take the 9-8 lead. Butler would answer with one of them at 11:35 tying the game up once again. Lindenwood and Butler would trade off the next two goals with the game tied at 10-10 with 7:49 left to go. Lindenwood would finish off the period scoring three goals to the Bulldogs' one. After three quarters of play, Lindenwood would lead the Bulldogs 13-11.

In the final frame, Lindenwood would jump to a five-goal lead after scoring the first three goals of the frame. Butler would find their first answer of the period at 4:47, cutting the Lions lead to four. Lindenwood would regain the five-goal lead at 3:16, from an Emily Mowbray shot. Butler would try to make a comeback in the latter part of the frame, scoring a pair to cut the Lions lead to three.
After this matchup, Lindenwood improves to 11-3 on the year. Haylie started in the net for the Lions, making three saves. Elizabeth Goth would come to relieve Sims at halftime and made five saves in the second half of play.
