Lindenwood Softball Loses First Two Games At SEMO

Game three will start tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. CT

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. - Lindenwood softball (24-18, 12-8 OVC) dropped their first two games against Southeast Missouri State (19-21, 13-6) in Cape Girardeau, Mo. on Saturday. The Lions were shutout in both games on Saturday.

GAME ONE

In a defensive battle, the Lions fell 1-0 on Saturday in game one. Lindenwood was held to just four hits while Southeast Missouri State scored their lone run on six hits. There was just two extra base hits through the entire game.

Amanda Weyh (L, 14-7) pitched all six innings for the Lions allowing just one run on six hit while striking out seven. Weyh through her 10th complete game despite the loss. The lone run came off a home run in the second inning.

Irelynn West went 2-3 at the plate coming up with two of the four hits for the Lions. Pitcher Weyh and Dallis Darnell also had hits for the Lions in game one. It was the first time in 20 games that the Lions had been shutout.

Kat Sackett secured the win for the Redhawks in the second inning with a solo home run. The loss snapped a 10 game win streak for the Lions.

GAME TWO

Southeast Missouri - 4


Lindenwood softball also dropped game two of the series by a final score of 4-0. It marked the first back-to-back losses for the Lions since March 16th and 17th against OVC opponent Tennessee State.

Avery Wapp (L, 9-8) pitched another complete game for the Lions throwing 6.0 innings allowing four runs on six hits with three strikeouts. Ashley Gerber had the only two hits in game two for the Lions. 

Southeast Missouri State scored two runs in the first and two runs in the third to extend their 4-0 lead against the Lions. The Redhawks pitching staff ended the game recording 11 straight outs to shutout the Lions.
