MUNCIE, Ind. - Lindenwood men's volleyball (16-12, 9-7 MIVA) fell in the MIVA Championship game against Ohio State by a final score of 3-1. The loss ended the Lions eight game win streak. This match also marked the first appearance in a MIVA Championship match.
The Lions were led by AJ Lewis and
Ian Schuller who both had 14 kills each in the loss. The duo combined for 28 of the 44 total kills for the Lions.
Clay Wieter also had eight kills in the match as the Lions fell in four.
During the first set, the Lions took their lone set by a final score of 25-20. Schuller had five kills in the first set as the Lions took a 1-0 lead. As a team, Lindenwood hit .500 and captured 14 kills on 28 attempts.
Ohio State rebounded in the second set by taking down the Lions by a final score of 17-25. After posting 17 kills in the first set, the Lions finished with 10 in the second and a .214 hitting percentage. OSU posted 16 kills, their most in a single set on Saturday.
The Buckeyes took a 2-1 lead in the third in Muncie, Ind. after a 18-25 set. Lindenwood was held to just 10 kills on .185 hitting percentage with five errors. OSU hit .400 with 15 kills in the third set win. Lewis had five kills in the set.
Lindenwood's season came to a close on Saturday after a 16-25 loss in the fourth set in the MIVA Championship. For the third consecutive set, Lindenwood was held to just 10 kills and had a match low .133 hitting percentage.Â
