ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Head coach
Kyle Gerdeman from Lindenwood men's basketball has announced the signing of 6-5 guard Jadis Jones on Monday. Jones becomes the first Mr. Show-Me Basketball to ever sign with Lindenwood.
Â
"We are thrilled to have Jadis joining our program," said Gerdeman. "His character and mentality for the game of basketball align with everything we are trying to build at Lindenwood. The success he has had during his career individually and with his team speaks for itself.  I think the belief he has shown in our program speaks volumes for the direction we are heading. Anytime you can sign Mr. Basketball and the Gatorade Player of the Year from the state of Missouri is a great day to be a Lion"
Â
Jones, a senior from New Madrid County Central High School in New Madrid, Mo., comes to Lindenwood after a successful high school career where he eclipsed 2,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in his career.
Â
It was announced earlier this year that Jones was named the 2023-24 Gatorade Player of the Year for the state of Missouri after guiding his team to a state championship.
Â
He led the Eagles to a 28-3 record during his senior campaign and a second straight Class 3 state championship. Jones averaged 27.1 points, 12.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 3.3 steals and 1.6 blocks per game during his senior season. In the state championship game, he was a steal shy of a triple-double after putting up 22 points, 11 rebounds and nine steals.
Â
Jones is a two-time state champion for New Madrid while garnering All-State honors three times. He was also named the Southeast Missouri Conference Player of the Year three times. In his career he was the Class 4 Player of the Year during his sophomore year and was named back-to-back Class 3 Player of the Year in his final two seasons of high school.
"Jadis has reached some milestones in his high school career that many athletes do not get the opportunity to do," said head coach of New Madrid Dontre Jenkins. "He accomplished all of this while putting his teammates first. I'm proud of him and can't wait to see what he does at the next level at Lindenwood University."
Â
Gerdeman adds Jones to a 2024-25 class that includes Cardinal-Ridder product Clayton Jackson and Georgia State transfer Jalen Bouknight. For all things Lindenwood men's basketball go to lindenwoodlions.com.
