Baseball Falls in Extra Innings to Eastern Illinois on Thursday

The Lindenwood baseball team (16-36, 9-16 OVC) fell in 11 innings to Eastern Illinois (18-32, 11-14 OVC) by a score of 6-5 on Thursday evening from Lou Brock Sports Complex

GAME OVERVIEW
Eastern Illinois jumped out to a 3-0 lead after a half inning of play with a three-run homer to left. The Panthers added another run in the fourth to grab a 4-0 advantage. Eastern hit its second homer of the day to leadoff the sixth and go up 5-0.

Lindenwood got on the board in the seventh with a two-out home run by James Jett, cutting the deficit to 5-1. The Lions put the first two on in the eighth, put the Panthers retired the next two. Chase Honeycutt drew a walk to keep the line moving with two down, which brought up Bryson Arnette. Arnette delivered with a big grand slam to left, tying the game 5-5.

Neither team was able to score in the ninth, as the opening game of the series needed extra innings. In the 10th, Lindenwood loaded the bases once again, but this time, the Panthers were able to escape the jam and keep the score tied. Eastern Illinois pushed a run across in the top of the 11th to take a 6-5 lead. The Lions threated in the bottom of the inning, putting two on with one out, but were unable to score, falling 6-5 in 11 innings.
