GAME OVERVIEW
Coastal Carolina jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead just five minutes into the game. Lindenwood settled down as
Logann Eldredge got Lindenwood on the board at the 8:16 mark of the opening quarter. The Lions kept the scoring going with back-to-back goals from
Kiley Davis, cutting the deficit to 4-3. Coastal Carolina added a late goal, making the score 5-3 at the end of the first quarter.
The Chanticleers scored the first two goals of the second quarter, extending its lead to 7-3. Lindenwood drew back within three after
Alissa Digiacinto found the back of the net for the 42
nd time this season, pushing the score to 7-4. Just over three minutes later,
Andie McConnell made it at two goal game at 7-5. Once again, Coastal Carolian would net two late goals in the frame and take a 9-5 lead into halftime. At the half, Davis paced the Lions with two goals.
Lindenwood was outscored 4-1 in the third quarter despite forcing four Coastal Carolina turnovers in the period. Eldredge netted the only goal for the Lions in the third, her second of the game. The black and gold trailed 13-6 heading to the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Lindenwood chipped away, scoring the first three goals of the final frame, one from Eldredge, and two from
Isabella Rulapaugh, edging closer at 13-9 with 7:02.
Haylie Sims, who came in at halftime, kept the Lions in the game with three saves in the fourth. Lindenwood pulled within three on a man-up goal from Digiacinto with 1:41 left. Just four seconds later, Eldredge scored her fourth goal of the game, making the score 13-11. However, the Chanticleers won the ensuing draw control and salted the game away, winning by that score.
