The Lindenwood football team (0-1) fell to No. 22 Kansas (1-0) by a score of 48-3 in its first game against an FBS team as a program
GAME OVERVIEW
Lindenwood went three and out on the opening possession of the game. On the Jayhawks first drive, Kansas converted a 4
th and three from the Lions 36-yard line and eventually found the end zone to take a 7-0 lead with 9:44 remaining in the opening quarter . The defense eventually settled in as
Sanjay Strickland forced and recovered a fumble on the Jayhawks ensuing drive to give Lindenwood the ball. The offense was unable to capitalize on the turnover, however. The Lions trailed by a touchdown after one.
The Black and Gold earned its second turnover on the night to begin the second quarter after
Tre Bell jumped the route and picked up his first interception of the season. Kansas was able to get the ball back and double its lead on the next drive with a one-yard touchdown run, making the score 14-0. The Jayhawks went up 21-0 after a pick six a few minutes later. Kansas would lead 34-0 at the half.
Kansas added a touchdown in the third quarter. The Jayhawks scored again in the fourth to extend the lead. Lindenwood put together its best drive of the night late in the fourth, going 14 plays and 75 yards, which ended in a Logan Siebert field goal, making the score 48-3. That would be the final score in Lindenwood's first game against an FBS team.
