Football Hosts St. Thomas on Family Day This Saturday

The Lindenwood football team (0-3) returns home to take on the University of St. Thomas (1-2) this Saturday at 1:00 p.m. inside Hunter Stadium for Family Day.
 
The Lions are coming off a 28-14 loss to Missouri State last Saturday in Springfield, Mo. After getting down early, Lindenwood battled back but came up short. Nate Glantz used his legs to find the end zone in the first half, while Jeff Caldwell hauled in a 79-yard pass from Tyler Kubat late in the fourth to account for the touchdowns.
 
Caldwell finished the night with 137 yards receiving and now has 240 total receiving yards through three games this season, second most in the Association. The Louisville, Ky. native averages 17.1 yards per catch on the year, which ranks fifth in the Big-South OVC.
 
Another bright spot on offense has been redshirt freshman Steve Hall. The St. Louis, Mo. native ran for a career-high 100 yards on 13 carries against the Bears, good for 7.7 yards per attempt. For his efforts, the 5-9 back was tabbed Co-Freshman of the Week by the Big South OVC Association. So far this season, Hall ranks second among league foes with 185 rushing yards.
 
On the defensive side of the ball, Vincent King was all over the field against Missouri State. The senior linebacker compiled a career-high 17 tackles, including 11 solo stops. He also had two tackles for loss during the contest. The 17 stops are second most in an FCS game this season. King also earned weekly honors from the association for his strong game last week.
 
This will be the first meeting between the Tommies and Lions. St. Thomas enters the matchup with a record of 1-2 and are coming off a 24-14 win over Black Hills State a week ago.
 
The Tommies are led offensively by quarterback Michael Rostberg and receiver Patrick Wagner.
