The Lindenwood football team (1-3) picked up its first win of the season in convincing fashion with a 64-0 win over St. Thomas (1-3) by a score of 64-0 on Saturday from Hunter Stadium.
GAME OVERVIEW
Each team started slow on offense, but a spark was provided by Robert Giaimio who blocked a punt which was recovered by
Luke Cook and that gave the Lions a 7-0 lead with 8:30 left in the first quarter. The Black and Gold struck quickly to begin the second frame after
Cortezz Jones broke through with a 51-yard touchdown run to double Lindenwood's lead at 14-0.
Lindenwood went on to score four more touchdowns in the second frame: A
Nate Glantz touchdown run and a 48-yard score from Jones. Late in the quarter, the Lons began a drive from their own 7-yard line. On the first play, Glantz connected with
Jeff Caldwell for a 93-yard score. The strike that made it 35-0 was the longest passing play in the programs history. Glantz used his legs one more time to find the end zone just before halftime as Lindenwood led 42-0 at the break.
After a
Logan Seibert field goal, Caldwell and Glantz connected again for a 29-yard touchdown which put Lindenwood up 52-0. Giaimo also found the end zone in the third, pushing the score to 58-0. Two more field goals were made in the fourth, as Lindenwood picked up the 64-0 win on Saturday.
The defense was also a big story as the Lions picked up the programs second shutout since 2015. The unit forced two interceptions and three fumbles, while holding the Tommies to 148 total yards.

QUOTABLE
"Really proud of our teams effort today," said head coach
Jed Stugart. "We talked all week about playing a complete game. Â Being a team that compliments each other offensively and defensively. Â They responded well to that challenge. Â Now it's about being consistent week in and week out. Â So many great performances today which was fun to see. Â But what was awesome is how we played like a team today. That's powerful."
