Matchup
Lindenwood's women volleyball team continues their non-conference schedule with a trip to Boston, Mass. to participate in the Northeastern Tournament. The Lions will face-off against the home team Northeastern while also seeing Florida Gulf Coast and Dartmouth.
Lindenwood enters the weekend with a 2-1 record after winning their final two matches at the Linda Herman Volleyball Classic in Normal, Ill. The Lions were just one of four schools in the Ohio Valley Conference to win more than one match during the opening week of play.
Florida Gulf Coast also has a 2-1 record coming into the weekend after defeating North Dakota State and Albany. The home school Northeastern is 1-2 after capturing a win against Niagara at the St. John's Invitational. Dartmouth has yet to play this season.
Preseason OVC Rankings
The OVC released their 2024 women's volleyball preseason poll last week where Lindenwood was selected to finish in fifth place. The Lions had the third best record in the conference last season earning the third seed at the OVC Tournament.
Southeast Missouri State was voted as the preseason favorite in 2024 with six first-place votes and a total of 167 points. Last year's OVC Champions Eastern Illinois was picked to finish right behind them with 166 points and five first place votes.
Morehead State (163 points/five first-place votes), Tennessee Tech (152 points/four first-place votes) and Lindenwood (145 points/one first-place vote) round out the top five in the OVC poll. The top five schools were separate by just 22 points.
Lindenwood also landed two players on the Preseason All-OVC team.
Nyah Wilson and
Jessie Seidel were selected after both received Second Team All-OVC honors last season.
Allie Otten was voted as a player to watch as she returns for her sixth season.
Last Weekend Recap
The Lions went 2-1 on opening weekend with impressive wins against Bellarmine and Illinois State. Lindenwood's only loss came against undefeated Central Michigan in five set.

Rebecca Janke made the All-Tournament Team after their performances.
Otten was voted the OVC Co-Setter of the Week after her performances last week. She led the entire conference in total assists with 133 for an average of 9.50 per set. Otten posted a season high 51 assists during their opening round matchup against CMU.
Janke was a force in the middle for the Lions after posting 33 kills in three matches last weekend. In the win over Illinois State, Janke had a career-best 19 kills while hitting a team-high .581. She is currently third in the OVC in hitting percentage with a .385.
Addy McAleer led the Lions in kills last week with 37 including 21 against Central Michigan. Libero
Jessie Seidel had 61 total digs at the Linda Herman Volleyball Classic including 31 in their opening match vs. CMU.
Player To Watch
Sophomore middle
Ashley Geluck made an immediate impact last weekend making three starts for the Lions while picking up at least nine kills in all three matches. To start the year, she had 12 kills vs. CMU and added two blocks. She followed that with 10 kills vs. Bellarmine and nine kills and four blocks vs. ISU. Geluck hit .282 for the weekend.
