ST. CHARLES, Mo. – Lindenwood University Athletics has announced the unveiling of a new, state of the art, Athletic Recovery Room for Lindenwood student-athletes located in the Student-Athlete Center. A continued commitment to the student-athlete experience, the new Athletic Recovery Room will serve to enhance the student-athlete experience at Lindenwood providing an additional resource for student-athletes to elevate to the highest levels.
Last year at the first annual Black and Gold Benefit, donors committed their support to provide additional resources to support the student-athlete experience. This fundraising effort resulted in the department's opportunity to develop the new Athletic Recovery Room. Without the support and generosity of our donors, this project would not be possible.
"Empowering our student-athletes through initiatives like this is essential for their well-being and enables them to excel and become their best selves within the arena of competition," said Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Jason Coomer. "I have seen a lot of smiles when they first see the room."
Student-Athletes will have the opportunity to utilize the newly out-fitted Recovery Room to decompress after practice or a competition while allowing their bodies to recover at greater speed.
"Our donors' unwavering support has been indispensable. Their generosity has had a profound impact on our student-athletes, helping them thrive. For this, I extend my deepest gratitude," said Coomer.
Money raised from the Fund The Need initiative were used to re-image an existing space through construction of the space as well as by purchasing new industry leading Hyperice equipment for the Recovery Room. Included in the room are Normatec Elite Compression Therapy units, Dream-seat Loungers, new massage therapy guns and other items designed to support student-athletes and their post training recovery.
"We couldn't be more excited to finally unveil this project to our student-athletes," said Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine Kristin Trotter. "This Athletic Recovery Room will elevate our student-athlete experience and help them feel better faster after tough workouts and competitions. Many thanks to our Fund the Need donors from the 2024 Black and Gold Gala!"
Lindenwood Athletics' second annual Lindenwood Black and Gold Benefit will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the Ameristar Casino in St. Charles, Mo. For more information visit https://lindenwood25.maxgiving.bid/tickets.
