ST. CHARLES, Mo. – The Lindenwood women's soccer team (5-4-3, 2-2-0 OVC) suffered a 4-1 loss to Tennessee Tech (2-6-6, 2-0-2) at Hunter Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Game Overview
Tennessee Tech scored two goals in quick succession midway through the first half, with Allison Lee putting one home on a rebound following a Lucia Cuadra shot that had been saved before Natalie Howard found the top left corner of the net from close range just four minutes later.
With just over a minute remaining in the first 45, Lindenwood found an answer with a
Lily Sutter conversion from the penalty spot after TTU's Delaney Wade was given a yellow card in the box.
Despite the three goals, the teams combined for just eight shots in the first half, with the Golden Eagles outshooting the Lions 5-3.
Tennessee Tech added two more goals in the second half with Natalie Howard going top shelf again for her second score of the afternoon before Claire Palya rose up and redirected a free kick off her head and into the net to put the Golden Eagles up 4-1.
The Lions had a chance to cut into the lead with 14 minutes remaining after Tech was called for a handball in the box but were unable to convert on the penalty kick opportunity.
Lindenwood outshot Tennessee Tech 10-7 in the second half with three shots on goal but were unable to find a score in the period.
